Job Overview
Al Aswaq Al Watania Hypermarket is hiring a Category Manager with a background in central buying and FMCG retail operations. The role focuses on non-food product categories within UAE hypermarket or supermarket chains. The successful candidate will plan category activity, develop strategies to improve sales and product performance, manage supplier relationships, and coordinate with merchandising and retail operations teams to maintain suitable product availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage category planning and central buying activities for non-food FMCG product ranges.
- Develop category strategies aimed at improving sales, profitability, assortment quality, and overall product performance.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and other business partners.
- Coordinate with merchandising and retail operations teams to support product availability and effective in-store execution.
- Analyse market trends and customer demand to help guide category decisions and product selection.
- Negotiate commercial terms, review supplier performance, and support effective procurement practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least five years of experience as a central buyer for FMCG non-food products within UAE hypermarket or supermarket chains is required.
- A bachelor’s degree is required as the stated educational qualification.
- Mandatory UAE experience in category buying or related retail operations is emphasised.
- Candidates should understand category management, merchandising, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning.
- The role requires the ability to analyse information and work with multiple retail teams.
Skills
Strong negotiation, analytical thinking, commercial judgement, supplier relationship management, and leadership are important. Familiarity with FMCG retail operations, market analysis, product assortment planning, and supplier performance will help the manager make informed category decisions.
Employment Details
This is a full-time retail position based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The estimated monthly salary range is AED 12,000–18,000. A bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant UAE central-buying experience are specified.
