Job Overview
Al Madina Group is seeking an experienced Fresh Food Category Manager for its procurement activities in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on sourcing and category performance across fresh food products. The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, monitor market and seasonal conditions, improve margins, and maintain the availability, freshness, and quality of products for retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sourcing strategies that support consistent product availability and competitive purchasing prices.
- Build supplier relationships and negotiate commercial terms and agreements.
- Monitor market movements, seasonal availability, wholesale prices, and sourcing channels.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through cost control, pricing, and margin management.
- Oversee product quality, freshness standards, inventory control, and wastage reduction.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen the procurement network.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Extensive experience in fresh food procurement, sourcing, and category management is required.
- Strong understanding of the UAE fresh food market, wholesale markets, pricing, and seasonal availability is expected.
- Proven supplier relationship management, vendor development, and negotiation experience is required.
- Knowledge of cost optimization, pricing strategy, profitability improvement, and margin management is important.
- UAE supermarket or hypermarket retail experience is highly preferred; a strong commercial mindset is essential.
Key Skills
Candidates should have strong knowledge of fresh food procurement and sourcing, category management, supplier negotiations, and vendor management. Commercial judgment, market awareness, negotiation ability, and an organized approach to inventory and product quality are key to this role.
Employment Details
This is a full-time position in Abu Dhabi with an advertised estimated salary of AED 15,000–22,000 per month. The role requires substantial fresh food procurement and category management experience. No formal academic qualification is specified.
