Job Description – Mechanical Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, compressors, fans, blowers, and piping systems
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure efficient and reliable operation of mechanical systems
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime
- Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment
- Perform alignment of pumps, motors, and other rotating machinery
- Manage lubrication schedules to enhance equipment performance and longevity
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies during maintenance tasks
- Provide support to other maintenance teams such as electrical and plumbing when required
- Properly use, handle, and maintain tools, testing instruments, and equipment
Technical Competencies
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Sound technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
- Awareness of workplace safety standards and practices
- Effective time management and task prioritization
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance
- Good knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical systems, and basic HVAC principles
- Proficiency in using mechanical tools, measuring instruments, and alignment tools
- Understanding of safety procedures and maintenance best practices
- Strong problem-solving and fault diagnosis abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
