An Abu Dhabi AI Factory initiative is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise-scale artificial intelligence platforms. This senior technical position combines hands-on engineering with architectural ownership, technical decision-making, and team leadership. The successful candidate will guide the development of production-grade AI systems and advanced solutions involving Generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent-based workflows. The role also involves building dependable backend services and deploying workloads on modern cloud-native infrastructure. Candidates should bring substantial engineering experience and a track record of taking complex AI systems from design through production use.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, production-grade AI systems that support enterprise applications and business needs.
- Lead the architecture and implementation of Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and Agentic AI solutions.
- Build, improve, and maintain distributed backend architectures, APIs, and microservices.
- Deploy and manage AI workloads using cloud-native infrastructure and modern deployment platforms.
- Provide technical direction, mentor engineers, and promote sound software engineering practices.
- Work with product, platform, and business teams to translate requirements into reliable AI solutions.
- Evaluate architecture and performance issues, then guide improvements to scalability, maintainability, and service quality.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least 15 years of overall professional engineering experience.
- Strong practical expertise in Python, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and Agentic AI.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, backend architecture, and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with LLM serving, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Azure, and Kubernetes.
- Previous success leading technical teams and delivering production-ready AI systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
Skills and Additional Information
The role calls for advanced Python and AI application development, model-serving knowledge, and the ability to connect AI components with secure, scalable backend services.
