Job Overview
A confidential enterprise technology employer is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver scalable backend services and AI-agent orchestration capabilities. The role focuses on enterprise-grade systems that connect AI workflows with business platforms and data sources while meeting high standards for reliability, security, and performance. The engineer will work with AI, data science, and frontend colleagues to deliver production-ready applications, including environments that may operate on-premise or without external network access.
The position is designed for a senior engineer who can make sound architectural decisions, write maintainable code, and contribute to the safe operation of enterprise AI services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design backend services, microservices, AI-agent orchestration, and workflow logic.
- Develop secure integrations with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, and enterprise data platforms.
- Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation services using vector databases and retrieval technologies.
- Create API connectors for external data sources and support robust integration patterns.
- Implement authentication, role-based access control, audit logging, and data protection.
- Optimize services for secure on-premise and air-gapped deployment environments.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, improve observability, and work with cross-functional teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least five years of backend engineering experience is required, preferably in distributed systems or production AI platforms.
- Strong Python development skills with FastAPI and/or Django are required.
- Proficiency in Go or Java is expected.
- Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience is required.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, gRPC, API gateways, PostgreSQL, and vector databases such as Weaviate or Milvus is needed.
- Knowledge of AI-agent frameworks, RAG, and enterprise integrations is important.
- Experience with SAP OData or SOAP integrations is advantageous; secure high-availability experience is valued.

Employment Details
- Employment: Full time.
- Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
- Monthly salary: AED 22,000–30,000 (estimated).
- Experience: 5+ years.
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field (estimated).
