Job Overview
An IT services organization is seeking a Senior Backup & Storage Engineer for a 12-month contract supporting enterprise infrastructure in the UAE. The role focuses on dependable data protection, backup and recovery, storage performance, and disaster recovery readiness. The engineer will help maintain systems that support business-critical services, investigate technical issues, and coordinate with infrastructure and operations teams. This is an on-site role, five days per week, based in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, and requires substantial hands-on experience with enterprise backup and storage platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise backup systems and storage infrastructure according to operational needs.
- Administer SAN and NAS environments, monitor utilization and performance, and identify capacity or reliability concerns.
- Operate backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes, checking that jobs complete successfully and recovery procedures remain usable.
- Troubleshoot failed jobs, storage alerts, restore errors, and related infrastructure issues, documenting findings and corrective action.
- Support enterprise platforms such as Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC, NetApp, or comparable solutions.
- Work with infrastructure and operations colleagues to protect business-critical systems and apply security and service standards.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational records, and handover notes throughout the contract.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least eight years of relevant experience in backup and storage engineering is required.
- Strong practical knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery, SAN/NAS storage, and disaster recovery technologies is essential.
- Experience with one or more enterprise platforms, including Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC, or NetApp, is expected.
- Relevant technical certifications are required, alongside strong troubleshooting, analysis, and documentation skills.
- Candidates must be available for full-time on-site work five days per week in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
