Job Overview
A UAE IT services organization is seeking a Senior Backup & Storage Engineer for a 12-month contract. The onsite position supports enterprise data protection and storage infrastructure, helping ensure that business-critical systems can be recovered when required. The engineer will maintain backup and recovery platforms, manage storage environments, monitor jobs, troubleshoot faults, and contribute to disaster recovery readiness. Candidates should have substantial enterprise experience, be comfortable with major backup and storage technologies, and be available to work onsite five days each week in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup and storage infrastructure.
- Operate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to support business continuity.
- Administer SAN and NAS storage and monitor performance and capacity.
- Check backup jobs, investigate failures, and verify recovery processes when needed.
- Work with enterprise backup platforms to maintain secure and reliable data protection.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and operations teams on business-critical systems.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow organizational security and operational standards.
Requirements
- At least eight years of experience in backup and storage engineering.
- Strong practical expertise in enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
- Hands-on experience with SAN, NAS, and disaster recovery technologies.
- Experience with Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC, NetApp, or comparable platforms.
- Relevant technical certifications and strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work onsite five days a week in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant technical certifications are specified. The key experience requirement is eight or more years in backup and storage engineering, including enterprise recovery and disaster recovery technologies.
