Storekeeper Job Description:

  1. Inventory and stock control: A Storekeeper’s role will be to ensure that the right items are available in stock at the correct time. Herein, it will check inventory levels and ensure it does not run out of stock but thus places an order for more supplies whenever necessary.
  2. Stock rotation: Stock rotation involves taking stock from storage to the front and then replacing the stored stock with goods of like nature. This will prevent the deterioration of products at the various stages and ensure that the storeroom is always full.
  3. Ordering and receiving: Ordering and receiving basically means ordering products from suppliers and getting the goods subsequently delivered to the customers. Here, the use of internet, telephone, or face-to-face contacts may be employed.
  4. Receiving and unpacking: Receiving and unpacking involves taking the ordered items from their packaging and placing them in the storeroom.
  5. Storing: Store products in the storeroom until they need to be sold to store. This may entail shelve products, stack boxes, or use any other approach that is appropriate.
  6. Sales: Sales involves selling products to customers. This might include making sales calls, setting prices, completing paperwork, etc.
  7. Reporting: Reporting would include reporting back to management what was done and how effective it resulted. It could be in writing reports, emails, and so on.
