Walk in Interview Scams: How to Protect Yourself
Walk in interview posts are copied and reposted widely, and scammers take advantage of that. A genuine employer does not charge you for a job, a test, an interview or a visa. Never pay anyone to get a job in the UAE.
Warning signs
- You are asked to pay for a job, interview, test, training, “visa deposit” or processing fee.
- You are asked for bank, card or OTP details.
- The recruiter will not give you an official job offer that you can verify independently.
- The company will not share its trade licence or registration details.
- You are told to start work on a visit visa. You can attend an interview on one, but you cannot legally work on it. The employer must arrange the correct work permit.
How to verify an employer and a job offer
- Check the company exists. Search its name in the UAE National Economic Register and confirm the licence is active and the activity fits the job.
- Verify the job offer with MOHRE. Official offers carry a serial number and barcode. Check it on the MOHRE website, in the MOHRE UAE Smart app, or by calling the MOHRE call centre on 600 590000.
- Check the employer’s official careers page to see whether the vacancy is listed there.
- Keep evidence. Save the advert, messages, email addresses and phone numbers.
Stop all contact, keep screenshots and payment receipts, and report it to Dubai Police eCrime (or your emirate’s cybercrime service) and to MOHRE. You can also report a suspicious listing to us so we can review it.

Do I need an appointment for a walk in interview in Dubai?
No. You turn up on the date and at the time given in the announcement. If the employer lists a WhatsApp number or HR email, you can use it to confirm details first, but an appointment is not normally required.
Can I attend a walk in interview on a visit visa?
Yes, many employers accept candidates on a visit visa or cancelled visa, and some prefer them because they can join quickly. Check each listing, as some require a valid UAE visa. You cannot legally work on a visit visa, so the employer must arrange the correct work permit.
What documents should I bring to a walk in interview?
